The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 require that building owners or managers (responsible persons) for multi-occupied residential buildings and buildings with storeys over 11 metres in height undertake quarterly checks of all fire doors (including self-closing devices) in the common parts of a building and annual checks are undertaken of all flat entrance doors (including self-closing devices) that lead onto a building’s common parts. BS9999 recommends inspections of fire doors and all components every 6 months for all buildings. However, daily, weekly and monthly visual checks should also be performed as part of routine fire and safety procedures. These regular inspections will help identify any potential issues early on and allow for timely maintenance and repairs.
